Leo's approach to foraging is engaging, fun, and informative

not only teaching how to identify but digging into the history, science and nutrition of wild food.

🌿 What to expect

Step into spring and discover the wide array of fresh nutritious greens, vibrant flowers and edible trees!

Learn how to identify the plants, trees and fungi of the Hackney Marshes and discover what they taste like with a selection of seasonal wild tasters.

You will get recipes, history lessons and both medicinal and nutritional profiles for all our wild finds on a case by case basis.

All our walks provide you a follow up email with the key points from the day including identification and nutrition.

🌿 Location

Hackney may not sound like your typical foraging spot but it is an amazing area of diverse habitat

including wetlands, grasslands and woodland. Designated as a Metropolitan site of importance

for nature conservation we can expect to see bountiful wildlife alongside the high variety of plants and trees.

🌿 What to bring

The rain won’t stop us walking! Please check the weather and dress appropriately!

Bring water for the day and snacks if you feel you will need them, there will be tasters but not a full lunch course.

We encourage taking notes but you will receive a follow up email after the course so its not essential.

🌿 How the day will run

Arrival time is 15 minutes before your course start time. The exact location will be in your email after booking.

After a short meet and greet we will start a guided tour of our location stopping at various species of plants, trees and fungi.

When we finish our walk we will enjoy wild seasonal tasters as we chat about our finds.

This event typically lasts 3 hours.

The route will vary day to day but it’s all easy terrain, not climbing any mountains!

🌿 Facilities and parking

Parking is free for this site. There are both toilets and water filling facilities on location.
